Scarlet Hollow Returns with a Major Update and Limited-Time Discount

Black Tabby Games has officially announced the relaunch of its award-winning Gothic horror narrative game, Scarlet Hollow, with a major update. Arriving just in time for Steam’s Visual Novel Fest, the game returns with The Roads Untraveled update, a major overhaul introducing expanded storylines, new artwork, and fresh gameplay content. For a limited time, you can purchase the game at 25% off its regular price of $24.99 until March 10.

The Roads Untraveled update brings a wealth of new material, enhancing the first four chapters of the Early Access title with over 70,000 words of additional narrative from Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias. You can explore newly developed story branches, encounter unexpected twists, and immerse yourself in the eerie town of Scarlet Hollow, North Carolina. The update also includes hundreds of new illustrations from Abby Howard, further enriching the game’s haunting atmosphere.

Scarlet Hollow — The Roads Untraveled Trailer

At the heart of the story is Pearlanne Scarlet, the late matriarch who left behind not only the Scarlet Mine but also a heavy legacy for her daughter, Tabitha. As the protagonist—a distant relative—you arrive in Scarlet Hollow to attend the funeral and navigate the town’s strange and sinister happenings. Throughout the journey, you’ll assist Tabitha as she struggles to manage the mine and its unsettling mysteries, all while coping with the emotional weight of her mother’s death.

One of the game’s defining features is its trait system, which shapes how the narrative unfolds. You can select two distinct traits that influence their interactions and decisions. Whether becoming a muscle-bound mystic, a reclusive animal whisperer, or crafting a unique persona, these choices carry significant consequences. This branching narrative approach allows for a deeply personalized experience, where every decision can alter not only your fate but also the fate of the town’s inhabitants.

Despite the ongoing development of Chapter Five and future installments, the team at Black Tabby Games was eager to share these improvements. “We’re still hard at work on chapter five and beyond, but we didn’t want to wait to make significant changes and improvements to the Scarlet Hollow experience,” said Tony Howard-Arias, co-founder of Black Tabby Games.
