Independent developer QUByte Interactive has announced the release date for its upcoming futuristic metroidvania platformer MARS 2120. MARS 2021 will officially launch on August 1st. This announcement was made during gamescom latam, and the game will be available on PC (via Steam and the Epic Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox Series consoles. Following a successful Early Access phase, the game, affectionately dubbed “the Brazilian Metroid Dread,” is now poised for its full release.
In MARS 2120, you will explore a post-colonization version of Mars, where the once-thriving settlers now face unknown threats. As you wield elemental abilities, you’ll traverse diverse biomes in a quest to uncover the secrets of Mars and save the colony. Check out the release date announcement trailer for the game below:

In MARS 2120, humanity has successfully colonized various planets in our solar system, providing an escape from the increasingly dire situation on Earth. When the UN receives a distress call from Mars, it’s up to Sergeant Anna “Thirteen” Charlotte and an elite team of space marines to respond and rescue the first colony. To achieve this, you will navigate a harsh landscape, battling formidable and mysterious foes using a mix of ranged and melee attacks, alongside useful elemental skills. The game offers a non-linear approach to both combat and exploration, allowing you to choose how to tackle each challenge.
Inspired by genre pioneers like Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, MARS 2120 delivers an 8-hour, action-packed Metroidvania experience that combines satisfying combat with cinematic flair. Will you have what it takes to survive and uncover the mysteries of Mars?
