Developer and publisher Moving Pieces Interactive has announced the release date for its upcoming explosive sci-fi roguelike Shoulders of Giants: Ultimate. Shoulders of Giants: Ultimate is an enhanced director’s cut of the co-op sci-fi action roguelike, and it is aiming to restore harmony to troubled planets when it launches on PS5 and Steam on August 12, 2024. This revamped edition offers you a vivid remaster, featuring upgraded graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5.
You can expect more chaotic combat with a higher on-screen enemy count and wackier, game-breaking builds thanks to new class options. You will embark on a roguelike journey through a galaxy under siege by the chaos-seeking forces of Entropy, taking on the roles of fast friends Froggie and GERM. Froggie’s amphibious shooting skills and GERM’s samurai swordplay combine to take down ruthless aliens and bosses, striving to prevent the heat death of the universe.

The game provides a satisfying, fast-paced blend of melee and ranged combat against alien dragons, psychic slimes, skittish snipers, and other foes. You can charge into battle controlling both heroes and team up with a buddy in Best Friend mode, where each takes control of one hero. Alternatively, you can invite up to four friends for an online co-op experience.
The Ultimate edition boasts extensive loot collections from downed bosses, allowing you to experiment with abilities, weapons, and classes to create millions of unique combinations for each run. Explosively colorful combos can be set off by synchronizing equipable skills like glowing grenades, grappling hooks, and holographic decoys.

Shoulders of Giants: Ultimate will be available on PS5 and PC via Steam on August 12, for $19.99. The game will feature language support for Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
