Sony Announces a Brand New State of Play for August 2020

State of Play August 2020

Sony has finally announced the date of its next State of Play presentation and it is much closer than you would have expected. The next State of Play stream is scheduled to go live on August 6, 2020, and it will be streamed across all video channels of PlayStation. The new State of Play will go live on August 6, 2020, at 1 PM Pacific Time / 4 PM Eastern Time On Twitch and YouTube.

As announced by Sid Shuman, Senior Director, SIE Content Communications, on the official PlayStation Blog, the latest State of Play will not focus on PlayStation Studios exclusives or other exclusive content. Rather, it will focus on third-party titles and other updates coming to the ‘broader PlayStation ecosystem’. He has clearly stated that there will be no news on upcoming PS5 exclusives, hardware, business, preorders, or dates which means that no additional PS5 details will be shared during the stream such as a release date or price of the console.

The stream will be 40+ minutes long and will feature third-party titles coming to PS consoles in the future. There will be plenty of gameplay footage and other game updates during the stream as well however all of this will focus on third-party titles rather than PS5 console or its exclusives. Sony recently held a PlayStation 5 event during which we got to see tons of exclusive titles and third-party titles coming to PS5 however details are still pretty vague and we were hoping for plenty of new information

The latest next-gen event was held by Microsoft which was its Xbox Games Showcase held back in July 2020. This is the second event by Microsoft for its upcoming Xbox Series X and during both of these events, we’ve seen plenty of gameplay footage of the upcoming titles. Sony is still lacking behind when it comes to sharing details about its next-gen console as compared to the upcoming Xbox Series X. Its previous PlayStation 5 event was the only event that focused entirely on the PS5 news and updates.
