Sony’s State of Play livestream has revealed a few upcoming games for 2019, while some that will be launched next year. The short livestream mostly confirmed the release date of some highly anticipated titles and expansion. In total, Sony talked about 6 games in the event. We have collected all the titles revealed, and detailed them below so you can check them out if you missed the livestream.
If you are not aware of what PlayStation State of Play is then you should know that earlier Sony announced that they will be skipping E3 this year. Instead of hosting a single press conference at E3 this year, Sony will be hosting numerous State of Play livestreams throughout the year which will give us information about new announcements, updates on current video games and more.
Let’s look at everything that was revealed in Sony’s State of Play Livestream
Monster Hunter World: Iceborn
The release date of the highly anticipated and massive DLC of Capcom’s Monster Hunter World: Iceborn was finally confirmed. The update brings in new content and will be available for PlayStation and Xbox One players on September 6, 2019

Riverbond
Riverbond is a cute dungeon crawler game with pixelated visuals of the characters that you play with. The game features four player co-op, and seems to be simply about hitting things with swords and finding treasures.
What is interesting is that it features many crossover skins from other beloved games like Guacamelee!, Bastion, Psychonauts, Shovel Knight, Enter the Gungeon, and many more.
Predator: Hunting Grounds
Predator: Hunting Grounds may not be a proper Alien game, but it certainly is a surprise announcement that brings this multiplayer shooter from the studio of IllFonic Games. The game is set to come out next year in 2020, and not many details were provided.
However, the trailer shows soldiers pitted against the Predator. The signature sound of the Predator can be heard while an invisible figure is seen lurking in the trees, hunting for the Soldiers.
MediEvil
This remake of the hack and slash action adventure game has finally got a release date. MediEvil is set to launch on October 25, 2019. The game was revealed more than a year ago at the 2017 PSX event.
The release date was confirmed alongside a trailer that showed some of the gameplay that you can expect of the game.
Away: The Survival Series
Away: The Survival Series is inspired by nature documentaries, as this adventure game takes you to a breathtaking journey into the wild. As a cataclysmic storms bear down on the planet, you get to immerse yourself in nature and explore a vibrant world brimming with life. Though there are many dangers that you have to be aware of.
While a release date was not confirmed, the game was previously confirmed to be coming on PC via Steam. The addition of the game to the PlayStation is surely a welcome move. The game is developed by Montreal-based Breaking Walls, and inspired by documentaries such as Planet Earth II and Life, and games including Ratchet & Clank.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Lastly, and the biggest announcement of all was the remake of Final Fantasy VII, which is coming to the PlayStation 4. A short trailer was released by Square Enix on the State of Play livestream that teases more information to be shared in June.
The game was first announced at E3 2015, but went through some hiccups in during development. Now the game seems to be back on track and will soon be confirmed. Take a look at the short trailer:
