In anticipation of the next-gen update, Sony has updated the Trophies system on the PSN as well. Announced in an official blog post, Toshimasa Aoki, Director, Product Management, SIE announced that a more refined PlayStation Trophies leveling system has been launched for the players now that will change how players previously saw their collection of trophies in their profiles. The new system will have a new leveling system that is easier to understand.
The biggest change in the new trophy system is how all players will have a brand new Trophy Level. The range has been increased from the current ‘1-100’ system to ‘1-999’. After the update goes live, all players will start to see their Trophy Level according to this new system. This means that their levels will increase automatically to reflect the new scoring system. Toshimasa Aoki explains it as for example if the player’s trophy level is 12, it will jump to somewhere in the low 200s.
The exact level will depend on the number and grades of trophies you’ve acquired.
However, players should know that none of the trophies previously earned will be changed or removed from player profiles. This includes the requirements for unlocking trophies that will remain the same as well after the new system goes live. The new Trophies Level Calculation system is more optimized and rewarding as well.
Players will now progress quickly through the levels and levels will have a more consistent progression. Earning higher-level trophies such as Platinum trophies will count more towards the level progression making them even more valuable to trophy hunters. There are now four different Trophy Levels and each level has a different icon.
- Bronze: Levels 1-299
- Silver: Levels 300 – 599
- Gold: Levels 600 – 998
- Platinum: Level 999
Along with a new icon for each of the four levels, as you near the next level, the icons will start showing a subtle distinction to visually suggest how close you are to achieving the next level of Trophies.
