Treyarch Adding No Specialist Playlist in Black Ops 4

Black Ops 4 Specialist

Treyarch has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is getting a Barebones playlist in which players will not play with any specialist. This was confirmed in one of the new developer update videos Treyarch released on Twitter.

Specialists have been part of Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise since Black Ops 3 and this name is given to characters who come with their own special and unique abilities. Many other games are following this specialist or hero format for multiplayer as well. We have examples of Overwatch and the recently released Apex Legends.

Players pick any specialist and use their special abilities to get an edge over the enemies in online. Some abilities are offensive while some are defensive so players need to strategies their gameplay according to their character choice. Black Ops 4 comes with its own set of unique specialists.

During the new Barebones playlists, players will not use any specialists for matches and the classic gameplay rules will be applied on the game. This was revealed by Tony Flame who is the expert game designer at Treyarch. Barebones playlist is coming to Black Ops 4 as part of the new Operation Grand Heist which is live on the game right now.

Every player in the match will have a normal character with no special abilities or tricks under their sleeves. This will be a good throwback to the classic Call of Duty multiplayer experience when there used to be no specialists and players fought with simple guns and grenades.

Hardcore fans of the series were asking for this for a very long time and it looks like Treyarch has finally listened to them. This system is not liked by hardcore fans of the franchise and they still prefer the old classic raw online experience that Call of Duty used to be famous for.
