Using Gadgets in Spider-Man: Miles Morales

To use these gadgets in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, you need to first unlock them. Right from the start of the game, you will only have access to Web-Shooters. To unlock the remaining gadgets in the game, you must play the main story and as you continue to reach particular milestones in the game, you will continue to unlock the remaining gadgets in the game as well. The four gadgets that you have in the game include:

  • Web-Shooters
  • Holo-Drone
  • Remote Mine
  • Gravity Well

While playing the game, pressing, and holding the R1 key will open the gadget wheel for you from which you can then choose whichever gadget that you want to use. Once a gadget is equipped, you can just press R1 to quickly use the gadget equipped. However, you must remember that you can only use a gadget if you have ammo for it. If you prefer a more controlled use of the gadget, you can press L2 to aim and focus on the location where you want to use your gadget.

For upgrades, you will need Activity Points which can be earned through completing many of the side activities in the game. For some advanced upgrades, you will also need Tech Parts.

Web-Shooters

Probably your most used gadget in the game, you will need these Web-Shooters to fire web at your enemies. It also allows you to trap your enemies and if you shoot web at them near walls, they will stick to walls as well. It comes with the following upgrades.

Improved Recharge Time 10 Activity Tokens Ammo refill speed is increased
Web Bomb 12 Activity Tokens, 1 Tech Part Web a stunned enemy and they will turn into a bomb which when exploded, webs other enemies as well
Increased Capacity 2 New Game+ Your ammo is increased by 2

Holo-Drone

This is a useful drone that supports you during battle. It uses light hologram. It comes with its own upgrades as well which are detailed below:

Tough Drone 8 Activity Tokens Increases the drone’s damage done to your enemies
Increased Capacity 10 Activity Tokens Increases the drone’s ammo by 1
Battery Life 12 Activity Tokens, 1 Tech Part Increases the time your drone remains by your side in battle
Fatal Exception New Game+ Once its time is up, Holo-Drone will explode rather than leaving the scene quietly

Remote Mine

A Remote Mine exactly what its name suggests. It is a mine that you can throw at a place and then trigger it remotely. It has electric damage and will sometimes also stun enemies. It comes with the following upgrades.

Live Wire 8 Activity Tokens Increases the Remote Mine’s knockout capacity when attached to a fuse box from 3 to 4 enemies.
Increased Capacity (Level 10) 10 Activity Tokens Increases the max Remote Mine ammo by 1.
Raw Energy (Level 11) 12 Activity Tokens, 1 Tech Part Increases the damage of the Remote Mines.
Venom Recharge New Game+ Gain Venom when standing in a Remote Mine’s area of effect as it explodes.

Gravity Well

Gravity Well is a pretty nifty gadget that works exceptionally well at crowd control. Throw a Gravity Well on the field and it will pull all of the enemies in its radius together and knock them down at a single spot. This will leave them ripe for some beating and while they get up, you can take them out at the same time. It comes with the following upgrades.

Upgrade Cost Description
Increased Capacity 8 Activity Tokens Allows you to throw an additional Gravity Well
Gravity Disarm (Level 10) 10 Activity Tokens Enemies caught in the radius of the Gravity Well are also disarmed
Gravity Boost (Level 13) 12 Activity Tokens, 1 Tech Part Larger enemies are also pulled into the Gravity Well
Gravity Reach New Game+ Increases the Gravity Well’s area of effect.
