In the BTS video, the developers explain the narrative of the game and research driving development. The narrators include Lead Environment Artist Iain Gillespie, Associate Art Director Laura Dodds, and Lead Designer Rob McLachlan who offer a behind-the-scenes look into this upcoming horror game. The developers explain how the environment will evolve over time along with key inspirations behind the horror. The period, the geographical location of the rig, everything plays a key role in the story of the game.

For the game’s development, the team developed a fascination for cranes and scoured British Petroleum’s documentary archives for an authentic representation of a Scottish oil rig in the 1970s. The game is played in first-person, and you step into the shoes of an off-shore oil rig worker who is fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea Waters. There is no form of communication active, and all of the exits are blocked. Amidst all of this chaos, an unknown horror has boarded the rig and you have to survive.
