The Star Named EOS, a follow-up to Silver Lining Studio’s acclaimed indie game Behind the Frame, is a first-person narrative adventure centered on photography and the pursuit of memory. The game follows the journey of Dei, a young protagonist who has grown up receiving letters and photographs from his traveling mother.
One day, Dei notices something strange in one of the photographs, prompting him to embark on a journey to uncover the truth about his family and confront the echoes of his past. Guided by his mother’s voice, Dei’s quest leads him through a beautifully crafted world where he must recreate old photographs and solve puzzles to piece together his family’s story.
The game features a strong cast of voice actors, enhancing its rich storytelling. Japanese voice acting is provided by Aoi Yūki, known for her roles in Persona 5 and Genshin Impact. English voice acting comes from Suzie Yeung, who played Yuffie Kisaragi in Final Fantasy VII Remake and FFVII Rebirth. The Chinese voice-over is performed by Shandy Ma, an accomplished actress with a vast portfolio in commercials and TV programs.
In addition to the engaging narrative, The Star Named EOS offers players a unique blend of evocative art and puzzle mechanics. Players will explore a hand-drawn world, capturing fleeting moments and uncovering the truths hidden within fragmented memories. The game’s design focuses on recreating old photographs to unlock new story elements, creating a satisfying blend of visual storytelling and interactive gameplay.
The game will be available for pre-order with a 10% discount on several platforms, including Nintendo Switch (except Nintendo of Europe, where pre-orders open on July 4, 2024), Xbox Series X|S, GOG, Humble Store, Sonkwo, and Heybox. Upon its release on July 23, 2024, The Star Named EOS will launch on these platforms alongside PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, priced at $14.99.
Fans eager to experience the game can also try out a demo available worldwide on Steam, featuring the exquisite voice talents of Yūki, Yeung, and Ma. This early access provides a glimpse into the enchanting world of The Star Named EOS, promising an immersive journey of reminiscence and identity.
