Strictly Limited Games has announced that it is teaming up with the European indie studio Factor 5 to bring back Turrican from its long slumber. The franchise has been in dormancy for nearly three decades and now it is coming back to life thanks to Strictly Limited Games. Turrican series was considered one of the most acclaimed and well-regarded video games of all time after it was released back in 1990.
For this new release, SLG is teaming up with the original development team over at Factor 5. Details about the title have been revealed during Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live. After the reveal, SLG is now celebrating the 30th birthday of Turrican by opening the preorders of the exclusive and limited editions available exclusively via StrictlyLimitedGames.com.
Turrican series has been heralded as one of the finest of the video games of all time as it mixes exploration with non-stop action. It also features an amazing soundtrack from the legendary German composer Chris Huelsbeck. The option in-game soundtrack has also been fully remastered and re-arranged for the new release.
The remaster is coming with the help of the original team at Factor 5 and SLG has curated and developed an anthology that not only lets you play through the history of Turrican’s finest moments but also discover new information and secrets from the many extras packed in the title. The classic series comes with a selection of filters and borders to customize the experience.
It also includes the fabled and long-lost Super Turrican Director’s Cut that features all the cut content reinstated as well as the brand new Score Attack version. The music can be enjoyed in two ways as you can choose between the original chiptune soundtracks or the newly arranged versions by composer Chris Huelsbeck. The two anthologies will include:

SLG will be releasing the Collector’s Edition ($99.99) along with the Collector’s Ultra Edition ($199.99) with tons of goodies along with the standard editions. The Nintendo Switch editions are limited to 3,500 copies and PS4 editions are limited to 2000 copies worldwide.
Retro enthusiasts will be happy to know that SLG is also bringing out the original retro cartridges for SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis with brand new cover arts from the two legendary box illustration artists Tom DuBois and Mike Winterbauer. They will be revealed in the coming weeks.
