Nintendo has revealed Super Mario Maker 2 for Nintendo Switch during its Nintendo Direct last night. The second title in the Super Mario Maker franchise is launching exclusively on Nintendo Switch in June later this year.
Super Mario Maker 2 will bring tons of new features and mechanics for players to explore. Alongside Mario, the new trailer for the game also briefly shows Luigi in action in his builder costume.
The original title was released back in 2015 on Wii U and was later followed by a 3DS port in 2016. The 3DS port was missing many vital features of the Wii U title so it was more of a letdown. The Wii U title was amazing and it really gave players an excellent opportunity to play around with the game’s tools.
Check out the trailer for the game below:
In Super Mario Maker 2, the building assets appear to be from Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 3D World, and New Super Mario Bros. In the original title, players were able to share their creations with the world and it was a great feature that attracted a large fanbase to the game.
It came with pre-built levels however rest was all open to players to use different tools to make adjustments to the levels, add or delete content to these levels and tailor them according to their own needs. We hope that this time around, players are given access to start from scratch as well.
Players who want to start on pre-built levels can do so and if someone wants to start from scratch, they should get this opportunity as well. This will really open up tons of new opportunities for the players in the game.
The trailer shows a lot more editing options this time around. More information will be revealed in the coming days and most probably on E3 2019 as well since the game is also releasing in June. We will surely update you guys if something new pops up on Super Mario Maker 2.
