Teamgroup has announced that it is going to launch its Elite Series DDR5 memory next year in 2021. The company already has 20 years of experience developing DDR3 and DDR4 products, while its products have dazzled the world with its advanced R&D capabilities and excellent product quality.
Teamgroup has stated that since JEDEC has announced the DDR5 memory standard, the company has been actively designing and working together with our IC manufacturing partners to pioneer and prepare for this new generation.
The company also revealed its plans for the DDR5 memory in the Elite memory product line. Teamgroup plans to release a 16GB 4800MHz module operating at 1.1V, down from the 1.2V of the previous gen. The data transfer rate will also be increased to 4,800-5,200MBPS, which is a 1.6% increase while also reducing power consumption by 10%.
The current DDR4 memory with its error correction code (ECC) requires an additional chip installed on its PCB, whereas the DDR5 supports on-die ECC, a feature that self corrects single-bit errors, greatly improving system stability. There is a lot of hype for the efficiency improvements brought by the new generations, which can be utilized for big data and AI computing and other related applications.
Teamgroup says it is all set with its preparations made in 2020 to take the lead in the DDR5 market and will coordinate its release with the DDR5 platforms of the top two CPU manufacturers, Intel and AMD. Finally, we also have some information on when the DDR5 will be available as the company states that it plants to launch it as early as Q3 2021.
