Netflix is Working on a Cuphead Animated Series Called The Cuphead Show

The Cuphead Show

Studio MDHR has just announced that a new Netflix Original cartoon series called The Cuphead Show is in the works for a Netflix series. The show is currently in development by Netflix and King Features Syndicate.

King Features Syndicate is known for Betty Boop, Felix the Car and many of the other animations of the retro era that Cuphead also features. Having said that, there are not many details about what the story will feature, how many episodes it will have and when it comes out on Netflix.

Coming to you in full color and cine-sound, it’s…The Cuphead Show! Witness the wondrous Inkwell Isles as you’ve never seen them before in an original series inspired by classic animation styles of the 1930s. Now in production by the talented team at @Netflix Animation!

Cuphead is the award-winning game by Studio MDHR that took over by storm when it launched. It was highly praised for its visuals that featured retro hand animated style, boss battles, and challenging gameplay. The animated series is likely going to follow the same path, but with more depth in the story of our hero Cuphead and his pal Mugman.

If you haven’t played Cuphead, it is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand-drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil.
