The First Descendant Season 2: Void Chaser Goes Live

NEXON and NEXON Games have officially launched Season 2: Void Chaser for their free-to-play looter-shooter, The First Descendant. Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, this latest update delivers a wealth of new content, including a fresh story arc, festive events, and exciting rewards. Following its recognition with the PS Partner Award for 2024, The First Descendant continues its success by inviting you to explore Albion’s Void Abyss and unravel the mysteries of the Iron Heart.

To kick off the season, you can claim a free Descendant of your choice at the beginning of new season access and Ultimate Bunny on the 14th new season access. Albion itself has been transformed with holiday-themed decorations and events, offering you a chance to earn exclusive seasonal rewards through attendance bonuses, co-op missions, and special gameplay challenges.

New additions include Keelan, a toxic-powered member of H.O.U.N.D., who joins as the latest Descendant. You can also tackle the Void Vessel dungeon, which introduces a massive boss, Dread Armor Commando, whose evolving weaponry tests player strategy. Victory yields valuable materials to unlock Keelan and a new customizable companion, Fellow.

For lore enthusiasts, Season 2 expands on Sharen’s story through quests revealing her battles with the cyborg Vulgus. You can also unlock Ultimate Sharen, whose stealth and area suppression abilities make her a formidable infiltrator in Void Vessel missions.

The update introduces innovative weaponry, such as the Hammer and Anvil, which features an explosive firing mode, and the Voltia Beam Rifle, capable of breaking shields typically resistant to conventional weapons. The Voltia Rifle, available via the Season 2 battle pass, proves especially useful in the Void Vessel’s toughest encounters.

With Albion glowing under festive lights, you can participate in events like the Winter Festival, which offers Descendant exchange tokens, holiday cosmetics, and unique enhancements. Upcoming additions on January 16 include a new Descendant, Ines Raya, and an intense Void Abyss battle called Defiler. Winter Festival Attendance Check Event

Kick off Season 2 with a special treat! You logging in for the first time during the season will receive Descendant exchange tokens, allowing them to unlock any Descendant of their choice.
Log in 14 times during Season 2 to earn special exchange tokens that can be redeemed for either Ultimate Bunny’s research material box (to unlock Ultimate Bunny) or a Season 2 cosmetic supply box.
Additionally, the Winter Festival login event offers a variety of rewards, including tokens for Descendant enhancement items.

Dive into a series of single-player and co-op missions available from the start of Season 2. Completing these missions will grant valuable items for character and weapon enhancements, helping you power up their Descendants.

Descendant Year-End Celebration Event

Celebrate the season with special gameplay missions. Complete these challenges to collect unique customization items, including a Fellow’s festive holiday skin and back attachment.

New Descendant: Keelan – Belonging to H.O.U.N.D, a specialized reconnaissance unit for Void Vessel operations, Keelan is joining the fight for Albion. He possesses toxic abilities and a consecutive dash skill that pierces through enemies.
New Dungeon: Void Vessel – An unidentified abandoned ship has been discovered deep within the Void. In this new dungeon, a formidable boss named Dread Armor Commando awaits. Not only is it massive in size, but its weapons evolve with each phase—from a handgun and shield to dual melee weapons, and finally to dual handguns. The Void Vessel is available in both Normal and Hard difficulties, and defeating Dread Armor will reward you with research materials of Keelan and a new companion, Fellow.
New Arche Fellow – Restored from the Void Vessel’s genetic material comes a familiar lifeform from the ancient Ancestors. Offering various battle support, this season’s Shepherd Fellow is also customizable and always ready for some pets.
New Sharen Story Quest – After failing to assassinate the cyborg Vulgus and becoming an Arche driven body, you can begin to unlock the secrets behind Sharen and her archenemy through various new story quests.
New Ultimate Sharen – Unleash Ultimate Sharen’s skills: Area Suppression hurls daggers in a 360-degree radius for devastating impact, while Caught in an Ambush boosts movement speed, reduces skill cooldowns, and reactivates stealth upon enemy kills. When using her skill Active Camouflage, Ultimate Sharen can avoid traps, making her the perfect infiltrator for evading enemy detection in the Void Vessel.
New “Hammer and Anvil” Ultimate Weapon Instead of an aiming function, the Hammer and Anvil supports a firing mode switch to Anvil Mode. Pressing the aim button switches the weapon into Anvil Mode, firing a single explosive projectile that detonates after a set duration, releasing pellets in all directions.
New “Voltia” Ultimate Weapon – The Voltia Beam Rifle, available for free through the Season 2 battle pass, harnesses the electrical current discharge technology used in Bunny’s suit, emitting energy that chains damage to enemies surrounding the initial target. Unique among firearms, Voltia can break Anti-Void shields, which are typically only destructible by skills, making it incredibly valuable in Void Vessel missions
