NEXON and NEXON Games have revealed the first major update for their free-to-play looter shooter, The First Descendant. The First Descendant Season 1: Invasion promises to bring a wealth of new content, including a new long-range Descendant, challenging dungeons, seasonal power scaling, and much more. The update will be available starting August 29th, rolling out across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, PC via Steam, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW in three installments.
The season’s story picks up after the disappearance of Karel’s fleet, forcing the Vulgus to shift their focus to the depths of Ingris’s dungeons. In response, the defenders of Ingris have deployed their latest scout, Hailey, to combat these emerging threats. Hailey, a legendary sniper rising from her role as a supply soldier, is equipped with an anti-material sniper rifle, sub-zero bullets, and a storm snare, allowing her to neutralize enemies with devastating precision. Her ability to lower her body temperature and emit cold air adds a chilling edge to her already formidable skill set.

Season 1: Invasion also introduces the new Invasion Dungeon, which appears randomly in two dungeons during Hard Difficulty Infiltration Operations. You can choose between existing operations or these new invasions, which are designed for speedrunning enthusiasts. The faster you clear these dungeons, the greater the rewards they’ll receive.
A new seasonal growth feature, Inversion Reinforcement, allows Descendants to undergo a powerful Arche resonance phenomenon when encountering the Iron Heart. This grants you new abilities in areas like hunting, recovery, and survival, which increase as they progress through the season.
Another highlight of the update is the introduction of Ultimate Freyna, a Descendant who has harnessed the toxic power of Arche, transforming it into a deadly weapon. You can explore Freyna’s backstory and her battle with the traumatic “Room Zero Trauma” skill in a new story arc.
The season also brings a formidable new boss battle against Death Stalker, a powerful being lurking in the darkness of the Void. Death Stalker is far more dangerous than any previous Colossus, unleashing venomous and terrifying attacks. To protect Albion, you must uncover the mysteries of the Void and confront this deadly foe.
Additionally, Season 1 introduces new weapons like the Excava, a versatile assault rifle that charges voltage and converts it into an energy grenade, and the Frost Watcher, a scout rifle that enhances chilling skills, especially when paired with Viessa and Hailey.
With these updates and more, including the appearance of a mysterious trade agent, The First Descendant’s Season 1: Invasion arrives next week across all platforms including PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5.
