When you are in the Ground Zero chapter, you will come across this boss after finding medical items for the surgery. Your strategy here should be to always keep some distance between yourself and the boss, and to keep moving. This is because the Rat King is quite fast in pouncing at your location, and if it grabs you, you are pretty much dead.
Keeping your distance and finding obstacles between the two of you should be your primary objective in this battle. The Rat King also slows down when it smashes the obstacles like walls to get to you. While this makes the area more dangerous for you, it also provides the best opening to shoot the Rat King Clicker when it briefly slows down for a small period to get to you.

Your best weapon of choice in the first phase should be the shotgun and the Pipe Bomb for maximum damage. Repeat this process for the first phase of the battle.
The second phase of the battle begins when the Rat King Clicker splits its body into two separate enemies. The new enemies will have one Stalker and one Bloater. Your focus here should be to stay away from the Stalker and fight the Bloater. You shouldn’t waste any resources on the Stalker yet, and just be on the move while shooting the Bloater.
Once the Bloater is defeated, you will have some time to collect all the resources you can find before heading out. The battle is not done yet, as the Stalker is waiting for you out the exit. When you begin the fight with the Stalker, use every Incendiary Ammo you have in your inventory on the boss. This will ensure that you are dealing maximum damage to the boss.
