The Walking Dead Final Season Resuming Next Year as an Epic Store Exclusive

The Walking Dead The Final Season - Episode 1 Collectible Locations

Shortly after Telltale Games announced that they were shutting down their studio, and stopping all development on The Walking Dead series, Skybound Games picked up where it was left at. Skybound promised that the game would be back online very soon, and now it looks like it is finally happening.

The game is indeed resuming but exclusively on Epic Games Store on 15 January, 2019. People who have already purchased the game on Steam will have the rest of the episodes on their original platform. But for everyone else, it can only be purchased through Epic Games Store.

Meanwhile, for console players, the game will come out normally through their respective platforms.

A video was also released that clears out some questions that may arise by this announcement. And the video features none other than the voice actor of Clementine, Melissa Hutchison

It seems that Epic has played some role, either big or small, in the fund development of the last two episodes of The Walking Dead.  Skybound Games CEO Ian Howe and president of interactive Dan Murray said in a statement,

The team at Epic owns a major chapter in the history of the game industry. We’re excited to work together on their latest transformative event with the launch of the Epic Games Store. Epic stepped up to the plate immediately to work with us in order to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season of TELLTALE’S THE WALKING DEAD: THE FINAL SEASON.

The Walking Dead’s final season is finally getting to see the story to the end. Just a couple of months ago in troubling news, there was no certainty if the story will continue at all after Telltale’s announcement of closing the studio down and stopping all development.

The company also laid off a majority of its staff and left the future of the game in limbo. Fortunately, in a few weeks, Robert Kirkman of Skybound Games picked up the franchise and promised to deliver the conclusion.
