This guide will show you what you need to do in the first hour of your gameplay, by showing you what items you need, what challenges you need to complete to collect the important rewards, and how you can build up the defenses of your base and protect them from bosses.

Tribes of Midgard Beginner’s Guide

Below we have detailed some tips for beginners in their adventure.

Build Basic Tools

When you first start the game, you will find that you don’t have a lot of items, and not even clothes. Your priority here is to get some resource materials so that you can craft basic tools. These tools open up various opportunities for you to start your adventure, and also make other important items to speed up your gameplay.

The first easy tools that you can craft are the Pickaxe and the Lumberaxe. These require basic resource materials that can be found in abundance in the wild. As you explore the world, you will find iron deposits and woods from trees that you can collect with your hand. Gathering 5 branches and flint will allow you to craft both the Flint Pickaxe and Flint Lumberaxe

From there, you can carry on harvesting complex materials from trees and other sources to get yourself a basic weapon like a sword. Once you have enough material, head over to the Blacksmith and craft yourself a few weapons of choice that are available.

Check Your Challenges

Challenges from the main menu give you simple tasks to complete which in return give you important rewards. As you level up, you will get the Harvester Starter Kit which gives you the necessary tools like the Lucky Loot Rune, the pickaxe, and the lumberaxe, without having to scavenge for resource materials.

You can also check out your crafting challenges, which are challenges that require you to craft certain items or weapons. Check the Progress tab in the main menu, and collect the rewards for completing the challenge.

Gathering Souls

Souls are a very important item in the game which is used to keep the Seed of Yggdrasil alive, but it is also used for basically every other item in the game. While you can deposit the Souls at the tree, you are not required to spend all your Souls at the tree all at once.

This is because Souls are required to upgrade your base and its defenses, and upgrade your weapons, tools, and other items. Souls are found pretty much everywhere, from treasure chests and other places. However, it is very easy to lose Souls when you die. Every time you are killed by an enemy, all the souls that you may have gathered will have been lost in the wild, forcing you to start all over.

Fast Traveling

The game offers you fast traveling by using Shrines found in the wild. These are fast traveling points that when explored, allow you to travel to and from other Shrines that you might have already discovered.

Uncovering new areas of the full map will unlock more Shrines, allowing you to quickly move to a certain location or an area of the map that you want to go to as fast as possible. Shrines are rocky structures that need to be approached and interacted with to activate them.

Upgrading Village / Building Defenses

Upgrading your village and its facilities should be one of your highest priorities as you have enough means to gather resources and materials. While you may be more inclined towards upgrading weapons and other items, you need to upgrade your facilities like the Blacksmith, the tinkerer, and the armorer will give you better items in the end.

Your village will also need adequate defenses from fences to having gates that will prevent random enemies to sneak inside and destroy your village. Like your vendors, your defenses can also be upgraded, which in return will hinder the enemies even further, and protect your tree.
