Twin-Stick Drifting Game Inertial Drift Gets August 2020 Release Date

Inertial Drift

PQube and developer Level 91 Entertainment have announced that their twin-stick drifting game Inertial Drift is releasing on August 7, 2020. The game will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Along with the release date, the developer has also released some brand new screenshots and details of the physical edition.

Inertial Drift features a unique twin-stick drifting mechanic that utilizes both sticks to perform sick and controlled drifts. You use the left stick for steering and the right stick for drifting. Combining both sticks will allow you to perform precision drifts. From the trailer, it looks like the gameplay will require a little bit of practice before we get used to the controls but once we do, the gameplay looks amazing.

The setting of Inertial Drift also looks amazing with its 90s retro-future visuals. The game features 20 tracks flooded by the lights of pink Japanese sunset and vibrant neon cities. This setting looks brilliant and really goes well with the whole drifting vibe. Japan is known for its drift scene thanks to Initial D and FnF: Tokyo Drift so it makes perfect sense to use that setting in the game and I find it brilliant.

Inertial Drift also features local split-screen gameplay along with intense online 1-on-1 racing. The game only features duel which means that you will be against a single player in intense drifting battles. The game supports both online and offline game modes while you will also be able to practice with ghosts and AI opponents. The game will come with leaderboard support allowing you to fight for the top spot.

You will have 16 different driving styles to choose from. Each car in the game comes with its own unique driving style. The cars are also electric. You will be able to drive them all and then choose your favorite driving style of technique. If you want to drive with all of them, you can practice and master all of the driving styles to own everyone who comes across your path in the game.
