Ubisoft has officially announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X, the most significant update in the game’s history. Rainbow Six Siege X is set to launch on June 10 as a free update. This transformative expansion will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (including Steam), Amazon Luna, and Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service.
Rainbow Six Siege X introduces Dual Front, a new 6v6 permanent and evolving game mode. In this mode, players will simultaneously attack and defend as they strive to capture three enemy sectors while safeguarding their own. Dual Front will debut with District, a specially designed map exclusive to this game mode. For the first time in the series, players will have access to a curated roster of 35 operators, allowing both Attackers and Defenders to collaborate and utilize their unique gadgets and abilities in new ways.

Dual Front will also feature a Neutral Zone, where time-limited assignments offer valuable rewards to help teams gain a tactical advantage. However, these assignments require careful decision-making—pursuing them may leave critical positions exposed to the opposing team. The new mode also includes respawn mechanics and the ability to repick operators during matches, offering players more flexibility and tactical depth. Ubisoft plans to keep the mode fresh by rotating the operator roster twice each season and updating Neutral Zone tasks with every seasonal change.
Beyond the new gameplay, Siege X brings a visual overhaul to classic maps. At launch, Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will receive enhanced lighting, shadows, and 4K textures, with three more maps being updated each season. This update also introduces new destructible elements, such as gas pipes, fire extinguishers, and metal detectors, providing innovative ways for players to manipulate their environment for strategic advantage.
Additionally, rappel mechanics have been improved for smoother navigation, enabling players to move horizontally and traverse building corners with greater ease. The audio system has also undergone a significant revamp, including changes to sound propagation and reverberation, allowing players to gather more accurate intel based on sound cues to track enemy movements.
For newcomers, Siege X offers a refreshed onboarding system with tutorials and field training designed to ease players into the complex tactical gameplay. A new communication wheel has also been introduced to facilitate quick and efficient coordination with teammates. The Pick and Ban system has been revised, allowing for simultaneous bans from both teams to speed up the process while offering more opportunities to counter enemy strategies.
With the new overhaul, Ubisoft is also upping its anti-cheat game with the introduction of R6 ShieldGuard, Ubisoft’s enhanced anti-cheat system. This initiative consolidates all current anti-cheat measures while introducing live security updates that do not require maintenance downtime. This new approach is aimed at making cheat development more challenging while continuing to refine player protection and anti-toxicity systems. An improved reputation system will also be rolled out to encourage positive player behavior.
Rainbow Six Siege X launches on June 10, 2025, across all platforms, and with its release, Rainbow Six Siege will also become free-to-access. New players will have immediate access to Dual Front, Unranked, and Quick Play modes and can unlock up to 26 operators through regular gameplay progression. Players who wish to experience Ranked Mode and Siege Cup can unlock these competitive modes by upgrading to a premium edition and reaching level 50, which also grants access to additional operators. Existing players will retain all previously unlocked content, including operators and cosmetic items, and will receive exclusive veteran rewards based on the year they joined the game.
If you are eager to experience Dual Front before its official release, you can join the Siege X beta, which is available now through March 19 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. The beta offers a preview of the full Dual Front experience, including the complete 35-operator roster, new destructible elements, and rappel upgrades.
