Sony has now shut down the online multiplayer servers of The Last of Us, Uncharted 2, and Uncharted 3 on the PlayStation 3. This comes as Sony is slowly bringing the curtain down on the PlayStation 3 console, starting with the online game servers.
This comes as no surprise as Sony had already warned back in June that they would be shutting down the multiplayer servers of the three games by Naughty Dog. As of this point, you cannot access the multiplayer servers of these games if you play them from a PlayStation 3.
This decision made by Sony only affects the multiplayer servers on the PlayStation 3. Players on the PS4 will not be affected and will have access to the servers through their console. This also does not mean that the single-player mode of the games will be affected. The titles will retain their single-player mode that you can continue to enjoy on your PlayStation 3.
When the announcement of the multiplayer servers being shut down was made back in June, Naughty Dog had made all the multiplayer DLC of the games on the PS3. It was a really good gesture by the company to end things on a good note for the PlayStation 3 players.
All the three titles were major games that released on the PlayStation 3, and that includes The Last of Us. Though the PS3 is coming to an end, the PS4 is also following the same footsteps as Sony is working on next-gen console and the PlayStation 5 that might release next year.
Naughty Dog is currently working on the next title of The Last of Us. It is one of the highly anticipated games next year. The Last of Us 2 is planned to launch sometime next year, which strong chances of releasing sometime in February 2019. Any such news is yet to be confirmed by Naughty Dog.
