Servants Guide – V Rising

Read on below to know everything there is about how you can recruit and control servants in the game.

Get To Know Servants And What They Can Do

Servants are incredibly valuable in V Rising because they can go alone to explore regions and bring back resources for you, even during daylight hours. This significantly reduces the time you would otherwise spend manually gathering materials like copper or sulfur, allowing you to focus on more important tasks, such as constructing your dream castle.

Unlock Servants And Craft A Stone Coffin

To enchant tired travelers, you must first build an advanced castle. Focus on upgrading and constructing essential structures within your castle. If you find yourself stuck or unsure of what to do next, follow the Journal Quests displayed in the top left corner of the screen. These quests provide direction and rewards, with many crucial components necessary for progress hidden behind these objectives. Completing them is essential.

Additionally, many V Blood carriers possess important crafting recipes and building structures needed for your growth. Gradually defeat the enemies you can handle to keep your castle up to date.

Completing the “Lord of the Manor” journal quest unlocks Servant Coffins, which allow you to control humans. This requires crafting and binding yourself to a Stone Coffin, which becomes available once part of your castle is converted to stone. After binding yourself to the coffin, claim the journal quest reward to continue.

How To Control Servants

The journal quest called “Servants” involves constructing one of your newly unlocked Servant Coffins. To build this, you’ll need:

  • 16 planks
  • 8 copper ingots
  • 1 Greater Blood Essence

To obtain Greater Blood Essence, collect Unsullied Hearts, which can be found by defeating V Blood Carriers or other named enemies at levels 25 to 30. Place 4 Unsullied Hearts in a Blood Press to create the essence.

Once you have the Greater Blood Essence, combine it with the planks and copper ingots to build the coffin and place it in your desired location.

Completing this quest rewards you with the Dominating Presence Form. Equip it by pressing Ctrl to open the Vampire Power wheel. In this form, your vampire spells and abilities are replaced by a ranged spell. Casting this spell on a low-health human will charm them, making them follow you. You can then bring them back to your castle and bind them to your Servant Coffin.

Note that each coffin can hold only one servant, so you’ll need additional coffins for more servants. The number of servant coffins you can have is limited by your Castle Heart’s level, so upgrading it allows for more servants.

A human’s blood type, quality, and faction affect their effectiveness as a thrall. Initially, you can capture any bandit, as you can always replace them later.

After waiting 90 minutes in server time, revisit the Servant Coffin. Here, you can review your servant’s abilities, assign them a name, and release them to explore your castle. Once they’re roaming, you can access their inventory to equip them with gear. This is crucial for strengthening them for future expeditions. Additionally, this action will complete the “Army of Darkness” journal quest, so don’t forget to claim your reward.

Crafting The Castle Throne

Completing the Army of Darkness quest has granted you the recipe for crafting a Throne. However, be prepared, as this is a costly structure. After all, a ruler can’t settle for just any chair.

To build your Castle Throne, you’ll need:

  • Stone Bricks
  • 4 Greater Blood Essence
  • 16 Iron Ingots

Iron might be a new resource for you, and it’s not found in the Farbane Woods starting area. You’ll need to venture north to the Dunley Farmland to locate random iron deposits.

A Refined Copper weapon is necessary to mine these deposits, and the enemies in this area range from levels 30-40 or higher. Ensure you’re similarly leveled and equipped before attempting to gather Iron.

It takes a considerable amount of Iron Ore to craft a single Iron Bar, so collect as many stacks as possible on each trip. The Haunted Iron Mine is an excellent spot for this. While it houses a formidable V Blood Carrier, Meredith the Bright Archer, you can still gather Iron Ore. By eliminating weaker enemies and avoiding Meredith, you can sneak in, collect ore, and leave with your haul.

After acquiring Iron Ore, you’ll need the recipe to craft items with it. This involves defeating several V Blood Carriers. Start with Clive the Firestarter in the Bandit Sulphur Quarry to the west. Defeating Clive unlocks the ability to craft explosives at an Alchemy Bench. Use these explosives to access a barricaded compound in the north of Farbane Woods.

This is the lair of Quincy the Bandit King. Facing him at level 37 is challenging, but the effort is worthwhile. Defeating Quincy grants you the ability to smelt Iron Ore into Iron Bars and craft Iron Weapons, a significant upgrade from copper weapons. Afterward, head back to your castle to begin smelting those Iron Bars into your luxurious new chair.

Send Servants on Expedition for Loot

After establishing your throne, you can start dispatching your Servants to various camps and locations in Vardoran that you’ve discovered. To do this, you select a destination, set the expedition’s duration, and assign Servants to the task. The stats and type of each Servant become crucial at this point, so consider where you’ll be sending them when you initially recruit them. You might want to recruit more Servants from frequently targeted areas.

Your Servants’ strength, like yours, depends on the gear they carry. You’ll need to equip them with armor and a weapon to ensure they can handle any threats, such as bears, while on their missions. This boosts their power level and their chances of success. Unlike you, they only require one powerful weapon, so there’s no need to craft an entire set. Keep in mind that each mission location has its difficulty level, so assign Servants to missions where they have a reasonable chance of success.

Expeditions can vary in duration, with longer ones lasting up to 24 real-time hours. Extending the expedition time increases your Servants’ chances of success and the amount of resources they gather. When your Servants return, they will bring back a significant amount of the targeted resources. You can collect these resources by interacting with each Servant and accessing their inventory. Stronger areas demand stronger Servants, so it might be wise to invest more resources in their gear before sending them on tougher expeditions. Although this might delay your early resource collection, it will likely result in gathering larger quantities of resources more efficiently in the long run as your Servants become more successful.

Consistently upgrade your Castle Heart to construct more Servant Coffins and stay vigilant for individuals with powerful blood types to ensure you have the most capable servants in Vardoran.
