Just a week after the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx, Valve Index VR headset has sold out in some regions including the US and Canada. The game’s announcement has surely made a lot of fans very excited for the next Half Life content, so much that the Valve Index is now sold out.
One of the reasons for its sudden demand is after Valve announced to give a free copy of the game to anyone have the Valve VR headsets. If you are lucky enough to have one in stock where you live, you can get the VR headset with the controllers and two base stations. This will cost you $999, but will also get you a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx when it releases next year.
If you are looking for a cheaper option, you can get the Valve Index plus the controllers for $749, but without the base stations. The headset alone is for $499, which we have to admit is not so cheap.
If you are not aware of Half Life Alyx, you play as Alyx Vance and have to fight the common enemy that Alyx and Gordon were fighting against in the Half-Life 2. You get to see most of the famous Half-Life 2 enemies who are part of an alien group called Combine. Valve has talked about the gaming experience saying that it will be the classic Half-Life game where you will explore, solve puzzles and combat the aliens.
The release date for the game was not confirmed, but we do know that it is going to be releasing next year in March. The game will be a full VR experience that will be compatible with all VR headsets that work on a PC.
While it is not Half Life 3, it is some content related to Half-Life, especially after 13 years since any content last came out. If the VR game does well, Valve will have something to think about and work on Half-Life 3.
