Check it out below before we jump into additional details:
In Animal Well, you will be exploring a puzzle box world that is filled with secrets. As you explore the dark world of the game, you will light candles for your safety which gradually fill out the entire map of the game. The world of Animal Well is nonlinear which means that you will be free to explore it however you want. Each of the enemies, environment, and items in the game interact in a surprising and systematic way and the items come with multiple uses.
Bigmode also details that while the base game might be completed quickly, it is still just the beginning and fans will continue to discover puzzles in the game for years. Inside each of the dungeons, you will need to assess whether what you are facing is safe or dangerous. The game focuses more on tension and suspense rather than action and you will be required to cleverly use your surroundings and items to succeed in the game.
Key features of Animal Well include:
- A dense, atmospheric, puzzle box world with multiple layers of secrets
- Creatures both beautiful and unsettling. You must assess for yourself what is safe and dangerous
- Dynamic items that are fun to use and thoughtfully designed— each have multiple uses and let you manipulate your environment in surprising and meaningful ways
- A custom engine/renderer built specifically for pixel art on modern hardware
- An uncommon unpredictability paired with satisfying and intuitive puzzles
- More than meets the eye
