After the latest shooting event in El Paso, Texas last week, Walmart has announced that they are removing all violent video game ads from there stores. This is specifically targeted at video game ads or movie ads that are based on shooting. This comes at a time when most of the US politicians are blaming video games as the main cause of recent shootings in different US cities.
The most recent event happened last Saturday when an armed shooter opened fire on Walmart customers in El Paso, Texas. As a result, 22 people lost their lives and 24 others were injured. The most highlighted comments came from none other than US President Donald Trump himself who blamed video games for increased shooting incidents. Walmart’s decision comes after the latest event took place at its own store in Texas.
The news about Walmart removing all ads relating to violent video games and movies come from Kenneth Shepard who got hold of the official Walmart notification which clearly states that all signs and displays referencing violence to be removed from their stores. They’ve even mentioned consoles Xbox One and PS4 in their notification that their units must be unplugged if they are showing violent games.
You can check out the official tweet by Kenneth Shepard below which shows the Walmart notification.
Apparently Walmart is telling its employees to take down displays that show violent video games, specifically shooters, as well as movies and hunting videos. pic.twitter.com/2N3t4B86tf

It is even weird that Walmart is the same store that sells guns at the same time and for some reason, guns are still in stock and people can go and purchase them right now. But when it comes to video games, the store wants to remove all signs and ads as they are making people violent. It is a very strange decision by Walmart and it still diverts attention from the real cause of the shootings.
If Walmart really wants to promote peace and remove anything related to violence from their store, maybe they should start with removing guns from the stores first? Blaming video games for shootings and removing their ads and signs from the store while maintaining a healthy stock of actual guns and weapons in the same store just shows how much Walmart is serious about promoting peace and not violence.
