Review: Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest

Walkabout Games has just released a new Werewolf: The Apocalypse Dev Diary that announces the game’s partnership with the Belarusian fantasy-folk band called Irdorath. Werewolf: The Apocalypse releases today for PC via Steam.

In addition to the Werewolf: The Apocalypse dev diary, the official release trailer for the game was also uploaded on YouTube. Check out the trailer below:

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest is the upcoming savage horror game that adapts the mechanics of the legendary RPG system. In this story-focused experience, you play Maia, a young girl who comes to Poland looking for her roots and gets drafted into an ancient war.

You will play as Maia, a young woman looking to uncover her family’s history. In the pursuit of past mysteries, she arrives at the Białowieża Forest, an ancient wilderness full of ancient and dangerous secrets. The game’s mechanics are based around three main resources: Rage, Willpower, and Personality. They determine the choices available to Maia and influence the overall presentation of every scene.

In the current political situation of Belarus, the developers wanted to sympathize with Belarusians and partnered with the fantasy-folk music band, Irdorath. The game will now feature one of the band’s song called Vaukalak.

The song is said to be about a creature from Belarusian mythology. The creature was once a man who used magic to turn into a wolf and take revenge on his enemies. A pretty fitting song for the type of game Werewolf: The Apocalypse is.

With the release of the game on PC today, the developers will be streaming the game live to discuss its productions as well as their connection with the World of Darkness RPG universe.
