So Red Dead Redemption 2 came out a while back, over a year back, yet it still feels as if it was just yesterday. Why is that? Why did a game about Rootin Shootin cowboys is still with all of us? What makes this game so special? Why is Red Dead Redemption 2 A masterpiece? Find out below in this feature.
Wild Wild West
From the moment you boot up the game the first thing you notice is the beautiful, absolutely beautiful music of the game, be it hype battle music, or calm music during horse rides the music really touches you.
Not to mention the songs such as cruel cruel world and that’s the way it is that absolutely shatter the soul with how and when it is used.
Land of Beauty
But the music isn’t the only thing that’s beautiful in this game. The graphics are absolutely stunning
From the beautiful vast environments to the realistic and believable character expressions detail is the name of the game here and speaking of detail.
Rockstar has really outdone themselves in the detail department with decaying bodies, shrinking horse testicles and the dirt on your boots. Everything just screams detail.
The Greatest Outlaw Ever
For example, as Arthur, you need to regularly clean not only your weapons but also yourselves or else people will react to your manly odor as they do in real life you stinky loser gamer nerd scum.
Sorry got a little carried away
So anyway as Arthur you need to eat sleep rest bathe and everything you’d do in real life. This really makes you FEEL LIKE ARTHUR (ign joke). And really immerses you not only in the character but also the things happening around the characters.
You feel like you’re a part of this living breathing world, You ARE Arthur and the things that happen to Arthur are happening to you, It only helps that Arthur and many others are just absolutely beautifully written characters that are relatable, lovable and feel real. No one-note characters here folks.
That’s the Way It Is
What fun would a world be if nothing happens in it? The stories this game has to tell are some of the best I’ve experienced not only in this medium but any medium of entertainment ever
With fleshed out characters and wonderfully written dialogue to boot. My favorite being “take a gamble that love exists” from the scene when Arthur finally comes to terms with his death while talking to his sister at the train station.
Cruel, Cruel World
Yeah, the story is great, the characters are great, the world feels lived in, there’s a lot of side stuff to add to the realism but it’s still a GAME and game needs gameplay.
So how’s the gameplay?
Well… It’s not for everyone. The game requires you to be patient. It rewards that and It isn’t constant booms and stupid loot boxes that reward the gambler in you. This is less a game and more an experience.
