Saber Interactive has announced that World War Z: Aftermath is getting a free next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this month. The free upgrade for World War Z: Aftermath is arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 24, 2023, and it will be free for all current owners of the game on Xbox One or PS4 on their respective platforms. The next-gen upgrade will feature vivid 4K visuals at 60 FPS and will greatly enhance the gameplay of the title with new features such as the Horde Mode XL which features even more zombies for you to kill.
The Horde Mode XL will be available exclusively on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and it will bring a new twist to the mode. It generally follows the same rules as that of the standard Horde Mode. However, scattered among the normal waves of enemies will be a special XL wave which will have over 1000 hungry zombies for you to slaughter. This will bring a new overwhelming and terrifying challenge to the game as you and your team will need to gather everything you have and use everything at your disposal in order to clear these waves.
Another feature coming in the new update for World War Z: Aftermath and World War Z on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC is that mutators will be added to the standard Horde Mode Z game mode along with devastating and deadly new weapons and a revamped and improved weapon progression system. The free update will also go live across all platforms on January 24, 2022. World War Z: Aftermath brings all the content of World War Z: Game of the Year Edition including New York, Moscow, Marseille, Jerusalem, and Tokyo.
