Bigben and KT Racing have released a brand new video for WRC 8 which details the brand new Career Mode in WRC 8 and it shows how the game will have the most detailed Career Mode ever to arrive in a WRC game. The developer has completely redesigned the Career Mode for WRC 8 which is the official video game of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Based on fan feedback, the development team figured that the career is the most played mode in the WRC franchise so they decided to do a complete overhaul of the mode for their upcoming title. The redesigned career mode will certainly meet fans’ expectations as it allows more depth and is much closer to the real world and will definitely appeal to a much bigger fan base.
The Career mode in WRC 8 is very close to the life of a real-world WRC driver. It will allow players to become a driver for their favorite WRC team and progress from season to season as they compete in the WRC category. The path will lead them to ultimately become the world champion. This is the first time that a WRC game will allow players to become a player of their rally driver and race to represent them in the world’s most exciting racing sport.
Check out the new Career Mode Overview video below.
For this purpose, the developers followed several rally teams in different rallies in the real world and it allowed them to capture the key aspects required for a successful season. This is the core of the new career mode in WRC 8. Players will need to excel in three major areas that the career will focus on. These include:
- Planning the calendar to decide which events to do in between rallies: training, manufacturer challenges, rest, classic events, etc.
- Managing a whole crew comprising six different and interconnected job roles. Players must consider each of their unique characteristics and use them strategically in each rally.
- Upgrading the crew through R&D and a skill tree, which evolves depending on player choices. Every decision has an impact on progression and on the morale of the crew (performance, reliability, etc.).
Once a rally is over, the end screen will show some stats which will help players to further fine-tune their strategy or make some big changes in it depending on the results. They will be required to keep a close eye on the competition as well if they want to leave them behind. Players can also get back in the game by upgrading their cars to make them better and hiring better team members to make sure that the backend of the team is also solid.
WRC 8 will offer the most complete and authentic WRC simulation ever made. The game has brand new off-road physics for more immersive and authentic gameplay. The car will react differently to each surface. The game also has extreme and dynamic weather conditions to further increase the challenge players can expect to see on a typical rally stage.
Players will get to choose from 52 teams, race in 14 countries and over 100 special stages. The game will also have weekly challenges and a dedicated eSports mode for the real hardcore rally drivers. This is going to be the most intense WRC in the franchise yet.
WRC is slated for release this September on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
