Xbox Boss Phil Spencer has been very vocal about the brand ever since he announced that the nex Xbox Scarlet was in development at E3 2018. Now he has conveyed that Microsoft will be focusing on gamers on Windows. He mentioned that the company has not done much in the past but that will change moving forward into 2019.
We recently found some code in the beta for Steam that hinted at cross-play between Steam and Xbox. This could be one of the things that Microsoft is working on introducing in 2019 but there is no way of knowing for sure. The following is what Xbox boss Phil Spencer had to say about focusing on gaming on Windows:
we feel we can play a bigger role delivering for PC gamers on Windows. We haven’t always had great focus or consistency with our approach to gamers on the PC. The PC gaming ecosystem is incredibly vibrant and successful so it starts with us asking ourselves what role we can play and what we can add for both gamers and developers.
The company has already made a couple of studio acquisitions in order to make titles for the upcoming Xbox Scarlet console. It will be interesting to see what these developers are bringing to the table. We also know that there could be a streaming box that Xbox is working on. Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted that Xbox games would be coming to more devices in one way or another. The following is what he had to say in this regard:
2019 will be a great year for games. I’m excited for what we have coming including Crackdown 3, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Gears 5 as well as the incredible line-up of games from the industry that will look and play best on Xbox One X. While we continue to advance our position on the console, you’ll see Xbox show up in more ways to gamers on all devices.
