People might believe that the only way Xbox can come on top is if Sony fails or the other way around but Xbox boss Phil Spencer does not look at things that way. Competition is great for consumers and it pushes businesses to do better. That is one of the reasons why we are where we are today. Spencer mentioned that he does not want Sony to fail.
Microsoft and Sony have been working with one another for a long time now. Sony used to ship PCs with Windows back in the day. Recently the two companies announced that they would be working together on cloud gaming and AI. Coming together and helping one another is how the industry works.
Phil Spencer touched on the matter and he mentioned that hoping that Sony fails is not the right way to go about things. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:
I would say the most competitive side of it…no. I’m always listening to the community, but the people who want to see others fail in order for the green team to succeed — that’s not me. There were people when the Sony deal was announced, I could see it online saying ‘what are you doing helping them out?’
All kinds of companies around the world use Microsoft Azure and Sony might use it too. Even though the two compete in the console space, that does not make them enemies. The two do work on things together. Phil Spencer went on to mention the following about working with Sony:
And it’s like, we’ve had years and years of a relationship with Sony. Sony shipped PCs and they had Windows on it; they use our development tools to build games. This idea that the only way for any of us to succeed is by pulling down someone else just isn’t the way that the industry works today. It just isn’t.
