Xbox has announced that its Game Pass Ultimate service is coming soon to Samsung Smart TVs and the service will not require a console. Xbox announced plans for expanding Xbox Game Pass to even more devices and was previously working on getting an Xbox Game Pass app for smart TVs and monitors. Now, Xbox has announced that players will be able to game on their Samsung smart TVs and monitors with Xbox Game Pass starting June 30, 2022. This will be made possible with the cloud services and no hardware will be required for this.
This will be possible on Samsung devices which were released in 2022 and some of them already support game-streaming services like Google Stadia and NVIDIA’s GeForce Now however now they will be able to use the Xbox Game Pass service as well with the new app. Samsung launched a new Gaming Hub for these new TVs and its latest entrant is Xbox with its new app designed for TVs. For streaming titles, players will require an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription because only the Ultimate tier grants access to streaming. On these TVs, the service will also support Bluetooth headsets and gamepads such as the Xbox Wireless Controller and PlayStation’s Dualshock 4 and DualSense controller for the PS5.
In its mission to expand cloud gaming to the entire world, Xbox has announced that cloud gaming is expanding to two new countries Argentina and New Zealand today. This includes the Xbox streaming library and Fortnite as well which was added to the streaming service as a new partnership between Microsoft and Xbox. Additional plans for the future include allowing players to create multiple profiles to play in the same Game Pass subscription. This will be tested in Colombia and Ireland.
Another major announcement today by Xbox included the addition of game demos to Game Pass. This will be launched within the next year, and it will allow players to experience a bite-sized, curated library of games to test the titles and give their feedback to the developers. This program will be aimed at indie titles at first however, later it will expand to other titles as well. This demo project will be called Project Moorcroft and Microsoft will share additional details on it at a later stage.
Apart from this, additional news from Microsoft includes the expansion of the Xbox Design Lab which has been expanded to include more colors and options for custom controllers. Xbox Design Lab is now available in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Taiwan will be added to the later this summer. New colors include pastel options such as Soft Pink, Soft Orange, Soft Green, and Soft Purple and Camo Top cases with matching side caps including Soft Pink, Soft Orange, Soft Green, and Soft Purple.
Optimizations, new features, and Xbox Cloud Gaming is also coming to Windows 11 and Microsoft Edge browsers. This includes a new HDR calibration app that will allow players to improve the color accuracy and consistency of their HDR displays. Microsoft also plans to expand the Xbox Game Pass membership beyond its own library as well which will mean that you would be able to play titles, from the cloud, that you already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game library. Additional details on this will be shared in the coming days. You can check out the official website for additional details.
