Developer and publisher ATLUS has announced the launch of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden on Xbox and PC. Players can now play the two iconic entries in the Persona series on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Apart from this, both titles are now also available on Steam, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Players using Xbox Game Pass on both Xbox consoles and Windows PC are eligible to download and play both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden as part of their subscription.
Both titles feature newly remastered graphics and a multitude of quality-of-life improvements such as different difficulty settings, expanded language support, and a convenient new Suspend Save system which will allow modern players to jump into the game as well. To celebrate the release, ATLUS has released a brand-new trailer as well. Check it out:
The official press release describes the two games as:
Persona 3 Portable
If I say there’s an hour “hidden” between one day and the next…would you believe me? This unknown time is the “Dark Hour.” Unfamiliar stillness swallows the city, people turn into eerie coffins, and otherworldly monsters called Shadows swarm. One night, the protagonist is attacked by these Shadows. When all hope seems lost, the power of the heart, their Persona, is awakened.
Persona 4 Golden
They say your soulmate will appear if you stare into a television set on a rainy night… This strange rumor slowly spreads through the rural town of Inaba, the protagonist’s new home, just as a chain of mysterious murders begins. As the protagonist and his teammates chase after the truth, they find themselves opening the door to another world.
Persona 3 Portable was originally released back in November 2009 on PlayStation Portable, and Persona 4 Golden was released for PlayStation VITA back in 2012. It is an enhanced version of the original Persona 4. Both titles started their lives on Sony’s portable consoles however they are now ported to other mainstream consoles as well including PC. With both PSP and PS VITA being out of commission for a long time, it only made sense that ATLUS brought both games to other platforms to ensure they remain preserved in some way and players are able to experience them no matter what the platform.
As of now, both games are only available on modern consoles and PC on digital stores, and it is not clear whether both games will be released as a physical collection as well. The digital version of each game costs $19.99. You will need to purchase each game separately or if you have an active Game Pass subscription, you can just download and play either title as part of your membership.
