Commenting on the newly signed deal, PewDiePie said:
YouTube has been my home for over a decade now and live streaming on the platform feels like a natural fit as I continue to look for new ways to create content and interact with fans worldwide. Live streaming is something I’m focusing a lot on in 2020 and beyond, so to be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future.
PewDiePie is not the only exclusive live streamer onboard with YouTube as he will join YouTube’s roster of other exclusive live streamers which include CouRage, Lachlan, LazarBeam, Muselk, Typical Gamer and Valkyrae. All of these streamers have over 140 million subscribers however with PewDiePie joining their ranks, the platform will get a massive boost. YouTube is already the world’s biggest gaming platform with more than 200 million gamers a day watching more than 50 billion hours of gaming a year.
YouTube Head of Gaming, Ryan Wyatt said:
YouTube is where the world comes together to connect and during these unprecedented times, it’s inspiring to see our YouTube community come together to raise money for various charities and provide a source of entertainment to fans around the world. And I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue to grow our roster of creators who are making our platform their exclusive live streaming home to bring fans around the world even more of what they love.
PewDiePie started his YouTube channel way back in 2010 and he gained his fame from his earlier Minecraft and Amnesia series. His funny ‘Let’s Play’ series of Amnesia really pushed his channel to the top where his commentary coupled with scares and humor really made him famous. He then expanded to reaction compilation videos of Amnesia which gave him yet another massive boost.
Currently, PewDiePie is back again in Minecraft and other than that makes videos about commenting on his Subreddit posts which is one way of him interacting with his commentary as well. He has been an active YouTuber with hosting different charity live streams which attract thousands of viewers where fans support him financially for charities. Some of his biggest career milestones include becoming the most-subscribed YouTube channel in 2013 and then becoming the first individual YouTube creator to reach 100 million subscribers.
