In this The Division 2 Beginner’s Guide, we will guide you on how you can start your journey as an Agent in Washington D.C. in The Division 2. The Division 2 is set in Washington D.C. and this time you will play as an Agent in a brand new setting which is much bigger and comes with three Dark Zones instead of a single one. We will list below some tips and tricks for you that will certainly come in handy even if you are a franchise veteran.
Our The Division 2 Beginner’s Guide will tell you everything that you need to know about The Division 2 such as exploring the city, unlocking fast travel, looting, managing gear and many other important in-game mechanics. The game teaches you nearly everything right at the start of the game but there are still some important aspects that you must be aware of and we have detailed them below.
Beginner’s Guide – The Division 2
Our The Division 2 Beginner’s Guide details everything that you need to know to make your first few hours of The Division 2 much better.
Keep your Equipment in Top Shape
As you explore Washington D.C. and start completing main and side missions, you will get more and more weapons and items. Check the rarity and make sure that you are always using the best possible weapons and items in your inventory. The items come with five different rarity levels with the best one being High-End and weakest one being white.
Always try to equip the best possible ones. The order of better rarities is High-End > Superior > Specialized > Standard > Worn. You will not get the best items and weapons right away and you will need to grind your way to earn better equipment and items but you must always try to switch to better items and gear as soon as you acquire them
The Division 2 follows the classic RPG formula and your items and gear will have a huge impact on how much damage you deal to enemies and how much damage you take. If you keep leveling up but your items and gear are very poor, you will not survive for long in the game. Enemies in The Division 2 are relentless and you must keep yourself in top shape if you want to survive in the game.
The best armor in the game is the one that has a brand name associated with it. These branded armor sets not only protect you from damage but they also come with varying bonuses and benefits. Look for some sort of Brand name or set numbering on items and try to equip them as quickly as possible for increased bonuses.
Use Mods to Improve Gear
In The Division 2, you will find two different types of mods. Gear mods and Weapons mods. Weapons mods are used to improve your weapons while Gear mods improve your armor. Whenever you find Weapon and Gear mods, you should always equip them to improve your Agent’s stats. If you find some blueprints for mods, you can also craft them yourself if you find a crafting bench.
Not all mods will improve your gear. Some mods emphasize on a certain stat but will decrease another stat. This is common for weapons mods. One mod might increase the damage but may reduce the range of the weapon. You will need to keep all these things in perspective and equip the mods that go well with the type of build that you want to have for your gameplay. Not all mods will be beneficial for your build.
Equip the Right Perks and Skills
You also have the option to equip some perks and skills in the game but you must unlock them first. Skills are activated on demand while Perks can be considered as passive skills. When you start the game, you will only have one main weapon and one skill slot. You must play the game and level up to unlock your second main weapon and skill slot.
With two weapons and two skills available for you in combat, you will have more chances of survival and can choose different tactical strategies on how to counter enemy attacks. I recommend that you keep the Assault Turret always equipped because it is one of the most useful skills in the game.
With this, you can deploy an Assault Turret on the battlefield that can help you mow down the enemies as they attack you wave after wave. Make sure that you try to deploy it at some distance and at a place where it can easily kill enemies. It is a very good distraction and it deals damage as well while distracting enemy fire from you.
Unlock Fast Travel Points
Washington D.C. is big and it can take quite a while to cover distance in the game. For this, you can unlock different fast travel points on the map and later travel quickly from one location to another. It is also a very safe way to travel in the game.
You can unlock different Safe Houses and Control Points throughout the Washington D.C. to which you can fast travel to quickly. Make sure that you try to unlock as many Fast Travel locations as possible to use it effectively.
For Safe Houses, simply visiting one will unlock them for Fast Travel. When it comes to Control Points, you must fight enemies and take over them to unlock them as Fast Travel points. It is recommended that you take on Control Points with your friends or with other online Agents. You can also call in NPCs for help with your flare gun.
Visit HQ Often
The White House is your main headquarters in The Division 2. You can upgrade your main base with different useful facilities. Leveling up will allow you to have better skills and perks.
To get access to certain perks and skills, you will also need to upgrade your home base and build different facilities. Building more facilities and improving them will unlock access to better skills and perks that you can use in-game and this is only possible from visiting your home base. Visit your base of operations to unlock more options for yourself.
Loot Everything
To survive in Washington D.C., you will need to rely on looting heavily. You must loot dead enemies, SHC tech caches and Supply Rooms in any Control Points that you free. The SHC Tech Caches are spread throughout the map but you can easily unlock their locations on the map by unlocking Safehouses. Every time you unlock a Safehouse, you will reveal all SHC tech caches in that specific vicinity.
In Control Points, you will find Supply Rooms which are full of excellent loot and items. Try to take over as many Control Points as you can because you can then raid the Supply Rooms and get some really cool loot in the game. You will also find some bodies on the map with either collectibles or loot near them. Make sure that check all of them if you see them.
Stick to Covers
Taking cover is very important in The Division 2. You will not survive for long out in the open. Stick to cover and try to move around while staying in cover. While in cover, you can look around and then attack in the direction of the enemies. Staying in cover ensures that most of your body is not exposed to enemy fire and it also makes it very hard for enemies to shoot you while in the cover.
Your enemies will also use cover so the best way to deal with such enemies is by using grenades. Any time you see enemies hiding behind cover, lob some grenades and watch them fly from their cover. However, your enemies can use the same strategy against you as well. If you stay in cover for too long, the enemies will throw grenades at you as well so you must be ready to run to another cover.
