In this Fortnite Fortbyte Challenges Guide, we will tell you everything about the brand new Fortbyte Challenges introduced on Fortnite Season 9. Every new Fortnite season brings tons of new content to the game and Season 9 is no different. Along with the regular content, Season 9 brings with it a brand new set of challenges called Fortbyte Challenges.

These challenges are nothing like you have completed in Fortnite before as they require much more than simply hitting a milestone in the game. These are multi-requirement challenges for the game as they will require some extra steps before you finally complete all requirement and complete the final piece of the puzzle associated with these challenges.

What are Fortbytes?

Fortbytes Challenges are a brand new set of challenges introduced in Fortnite Season 9. These challenges will be unlocked as the season progresses and they are very important for completing the Utopia Challenges of Season 9 and unlocking the special mystery skin. You must collect 100 Fortbytes to unlock the mystery skin.

When you complete a Fortbyte Challenge, it will reveal a piece of the decrypted image and since the challenges will be revealed gradually, this will take until the very end of the season before you are able to completely decipher the image. There are 100 total Fortbyte Challenges however for the mystery skin, you only need to collect 90.

How to Collect Fortbytes?

Before you can collect Fortbytes, you must complete the challenge associated with them. The challenges included in Fortbyte Challenges range from getting a certain amount of XP, reaching a certain Battle Pass tier or completing weekly challenges. More challenges will be unlocked as the season progresses.

Once you have completed the challenge associated with the Fortbyte, it will appear on the map somewhere. Its location will be mentioned where you can find it and collect it. Once it appears on the map, simply head to its location and collect it.

This will decipher its image on the picture and completing all slots will decipher the main picture however that will take some time. Keep in mind that you only need to collect 90 Fortbytes to unlock the mystery skin. You can always go for the remaining 10 if you want to decipher the complete image.

All the current Fortbyte locations are listed below:

Fortbyte #2

This can be found at the top of Neo Tilted clock tower.

Fortbyte #3

This can be found at the western most point of the map, which is in Snobby Shores. There is also a sign that points out the westernmost point when you reach here. You need to use the Skull Trooper Emoji for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #6

This can be found at the ice creak shop that is wets of the race track. You need the Yay! Emote inside the front door for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #7

This can be found at the umbrella-shaped mine that is southeast of The Block. It is right above the entrance to the cave, which is the umbrella handle shape. Use Cuddle Up emote.

Fortbyte #8

Go to the main building of Junk Junction, where it will be on the bed.

Fortbyte #11

Find the bird that is circling the south of Sunny Steps and east of Pressure Plant. The fortbyte is just below.

Fortbyte #12

Head to the molten tunnel and follow the Pressure Plant’s lava river. Head inside and use the spray on the ground near the fortbyte to claim it.

Fortbyte #13

Go to the three dinosaurs that are south of Paradise Palms, and go to the outhouse behind the visitor center. It will be hidden inside.

This one can be found at the RV park. Go to the center of the lot where it will be between Mega Mall and Lonely Lodge

Fortbyte #16

Go to the ghost town in the southeast corner of the map. Look for a building at the southern edge of town. You will see armchairs on the roof. Head inside for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #17

Go to the hot springs that are northeast of Lazy Lagoon. The fortbyte is inside the wooden fish’s tail.

Fortbyte #19

Put on the Vega outfit and fly to the small lot east of Polar Peaks. There used to be a big chair here but now is a spaceship. Enter the cockpit for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #20

Go to Team Rumble and stay in the bus until the first circle appears. Jump and stay at the center of the circle. It will be right at the center of any of the first three Storm Circles.

Fortbyte #22

This one can be found at the southwestern side of Neo Tilted. You need to find the red truck where the fortbyte will be. To claim it, you need to use the Rox Spray on the wall.

Fortbyte #24

This one can be found at the house in Fatal Fields. It is behind the drafting board on the second floor of the house.

Fortbyte #26

This fortbyte can be found at the southernmost island at the tiny shack. You have to wear the bearded Bunker Jonesy to get the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #27

This fortbyte can be found north of Snobby Shores, in the A4 block of the map. You do not need any special emote, spray or skin to collect it. Find it and interact with it.

Fortbyte #30

This one can be found between the two mountains that split Pleasant Park and Haunted Hills. You need to look for some trees near a patch of dirt to find the fortbyte

Fortbyte #31

This can be found at the ruined building that is overlooking the northern edge of Dusty Divot. It will be on the metal grating.

Fortbyte #32

You need to get the Kyo pet back bling for this, and then go down the edge of the island that is slightly northeast of Junk Junction.

Fortbyte #33

This fortbyte can be found in Lonely Lodge. Go to the main lodge in the area, and then turn 90 degrees left. You will now face a small shack which contains the fortbyte inside, next to the bed.

Fortbyte # 36

This one can be found on the west frozen island where it will be behind the rocks on the southern tip of the island. You need to dress as Sentinel to claim it.

Fortbyte #41

This one can be found in Neo Tilted where it is located on the first floor of the Durrbuger. Use the Tomatohead emote near it to claim it.

Fortbyte #43

This one can be found at Peely’s place in the southwest corner of Neo Tilted. Go inside the banana stand wearing the banana cape to claim the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #47

Start at the pirate camp that is west of Lazy Lagoon. Now head directly south into the jungle, where it will be on the dirt paths that split.

Fortbyte #48

You need the Vox Pickaxe for this. the referred throne is the toilet seat that is on a hill northeast of Happy Hamlet. You need to hit the gnome with the Vox pickaxe for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #49

This one can be found at the entrance of the Sasquatch cave. The entrance is in a grove of trees splitting the distance between Frosty Flights and Happy Hamlet. The fortbyte is in the hut.

Fortbyte #50

Go to the ruined castle that is east of Haunted Hills graveyard. Go into the rooms opposite the throne and you will see the fortbyte. You have to do this at night to claim it.

Fortbyte #51

Go to the Peely’s Banana Stand in the southwest part of Neo Tilted. You need to use the Cluck Strut emote and start walking across the road towards the fortbyte. It becomes available after a few steps.

Fortbyte #53

Go to the mountain that is northeast of Snobby Shores. Head to the first floor of the ruined lair, and then dance with a friend or any other player on each pad to raise the disco ball and activate the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #55

This one is hidden in the building that is east of the church in Haunted Hills.

Fortbyte #57

This can be found on the northernmost rim of the volcano. You need to equip the Basher Bunker pickaxe and then smash the small rock to claim it.

Fortbyte #58

This fortbyte can be found at snobby Shores, where it will be in the northernmost lot. You need the Sad Trombone emote to claim it.

Fortbyte #59

You need the Durrr! Emoji for this, and then head to the northeast corner of Mega Mall. It will be at the Pizza Pit on the first floor.

Fortbyte #60

Go to Happy Hamlet and towards the northern part of the location. Now look for the sign with the pig on it, and then head inside. To claim the fortbyte, you need the Sign Spinner emote.

Fortbyte #61

Go to the area beneath the first stretch of the waterfall on the southern edge of Viking village. You need the Sunbird spray on the ground to claim the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #62

Go to the ruined mansion that is south of Lonely Lodge on the eastern edge of the man wear the Stratus Outfit and then head to the ground floor to get the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #64

Dress up as Rox and then head to Stunt Mountain where it will be on the top.

Fortbyte #65

This one is in the basement studio of the southernmost house, west of Shifty Shafts. Go downstairs to claim it.

Fortbyte #68

Go to Happy Hamlet and then towards the northwestern part of the location. Now look for a house with bookshelves lining that walls. Head to the second floor to claim the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #69

This one is hidden inside the pig-shaped building that is east of Lucky Landing. Climb into its head to claim it.

Fortbyte #70

Head to the skies above Lazy Lagoon and make sure you have the Vibrant Contrails equipped. Perform some simple aerial maneuvers for the fortbyte.

Fortbyte #72

This can be found in an upside down car in Salty Springs. The car is near the area with the orange barriers.

Fortbyte # 74

This one can be found at John Wick’s place. Head to the coastal home east of Paradise Palms, and it will be in the filing cabinet in the basement.

Fortbyte #76

Go to Neo Tilted and in the lone building that survived the volcano. It will be just southwest of the fountain in the city square. Head inside the building and up the first floor. Now face east to find the meteor display. The fortbyte will be right in front of you.

Fortbyte #77

This can be found at the top of taco shop that is on the western edge of the race track. Head inside to claim it.

Fortbyte #78

This one can be found at the lookout tower that is north of Loot Lake. The fortbyte will be inside.

Fortbyte #79

Go to the Mega Mall and look for the holographic Tomato Head. Head to the first floor terrace across the mezzanine and you will find the arcade. The fortbyte will be behind the counter.

Fortbyte #81

This one is only available during the daytime. You have to go to the mountain that is southeast of Paradise Palms. It will be sitting on the skeleton near the southern edge.

Fortbyte #82

Go to The Block and into a small grove of trees. There will be three pressure plates surrounding the fortbyte. All three plates need to have someone standing on it. You need your squad for this.

Fortbyte #88

Go to the J3 square of the map, which will be east of Pressure Plant. The fortbyte will be on the edge of the forest near three rocks.

Fortbyte #89

Fly through the rings with the Scarlet Strike glider equipped, and fly through the rings east of Snobby Shores.

Fortbyte #91

Go to Paradise Palms and land directly in front of the Keyboard King. It will be hidden within the ATM.

Fortbyte #92

Equip the Rock Love spray and then go to the mouth of the lava river, south of the Pressure Plant. Spray the painting near the fortbyte to activate and then claim it.

Fortbyte #95

This one is east of the hot springs. It will be next to the solar panel array.

Fortbyte #98

Go to the Viking village and on the mountain that is southeast of Snobby Shores. Go into the longhouse o the northern edge of the village.

Fortbyte #100

Go to Neo Tilted and look for the building with the large broadcast antennae. Go to the top floor of this building to claim the fortbyte.
