Rockstar Games is actively revealing more and more information about Red Dead Redemption 2 since the game is just weeks away from its launch. Recently, Rockstar games revealed details about horses that will be featured in the game and the list of included horse breeds in insane.

Horses are your main means of transportation in Red Dead Redemption 2 and your companion for every little bit of the game. It will help you in getting away from harm, help you partake in different activities around the map, help you reach your destinations quickly and many other things. It is vital that you take good care of your horse and always keep a good horse with you.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature 19 different breeds of horses and each breed with have unique stats. The game will allow you to purchase horses from stables, win them in different activities or simply ‘acquire’ them from different people. You can also tame wild horses present in the Heartlands and other areas in the game.

Each horse will come with its own unique characteristics and stats, which can be improved by various means. As you use a horse for an increased amount of time, its loyalty with you will increase and this will unlock new special perks for you. You will need to bond with your horse by taking care of it. You will be able to feed it, groom it and this will increase your bond level with the horse.

As your bond level is increased, you will unlock special bonding perks and rewards which will help you in various scenarios throughout the game. Apart from transportation, horses will also allow you to store extra items in saddles they carry. You will be able to purchase better, roomier and lighter saddles from stores.

Red Dead Redemption 2

These saddles will allow you to store weapons, costumes, hats and masks in them. Animals, birds and fish that you hunt can also be stored in saddle, attached to it or put at the back of your horse thus making horses very important in the game.

There are different stables around the game world, which will allow you to buy and store horses. You can also purchase horse accessories such as saddles, stirrups, horse rations to feed them, special stamina, or health boost tonics from these stables. You can also change the style of your horse’s mane and tail thus customize the look of your horse.

The official words by Rockstar Games on horses featured in the game are

There are 19 breeds of horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 from Appaloosas and Arabians to Shires to Mustangs, each of which handles differently with its own defined characteristics. Horses can be captured and broken out in the wild, purchased from stables or acquired by more underhanded means, of course.

Your horse is your constant companion, and you will rely on them just as heavily as on any of your fellow gang members so it is important to take good care of your animal. By keeping it groomed and well-fed, you will start to see improvements in stamina, performance and handling and it will become less skittish as the bond grows between you. With 59 different styles of coat, and a huge range of customizable tack, including saddles, horns, stirrups, spurs, you can create a horse that is truly your own, and develop a personal and unique relationship as you explore the world together.

It was also revealed recently that the changing climate of the game will have an effect on horse’s genitals which will shrink in winters and expand in hot regions. This level of detail coming from Rockstar Games is mind blowing as they have been working on every tiny bit of detail to make the game as realistic as ever.
