e3

Electronic Entertainment Expo or commonly known as E3 is an annual event where big tech giants like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, SEGA and others stage a show and grab the attention of audience via gameplays, trailers, announcements and more. Sony happens to miss out E3 2019, after a 25 year history.

This was confirmed officially by Sony. In a statement with Gameinformer, Sony said:

As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community.. PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.

Sony PlayStation E3 experience has always kept its flare year after year. Even in this year, it was Sony’s series of interesting gameplay footage that kept audience up on their toes. The staged demo of Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us II is was the only thing most of the fans at E3 wanted to see.

Gameinformer went on asking from Sony if they will conduct an off-site event, very much like how Electronic Arts did this year. PlayStation senior vice president of communications Jennifer Clark said, ‘We will not activate or hold a press conference around E3’.

This is second announcement this year that have disappointed fans in a way that they will not see any more of stage shows, announcements and trailers live. It was Shawn Layden, who first announced couple of months ago that PSX will not happen this year.

Sony is leading its competitors by a ten mile run. Sony PlayStation is looking for more innovative ways to bring a wide range of audience under its umbrella.
