Jigglypuff Detailed Guide – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Jigglypuff Guide details everything that you need to know about Jigglypuff in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Introduction

When considering to play with Jigglypuff, you must know that she has low range for nearly all the attacks making nearly all the attacks useless unless you are very close to enemies. Her dash attack is also slow when compared to other fighters in the game. If someone manages to break through her shield, Jigglypuff will fly off the screen which is a big problem if you want to win.

Among all these lows and slows, Jigglypuff comes packed with a solid anti-air and the air is where you will want your enemy if you want to deal some damage with Jigglypuff. However, even with its aerial attacks, you will need to time them right if you want to make them effective.

One of her special abilities is that Jigglypuff can jump in the air for five times before coming back to the ground. Apart from this, she does not really boast any other movement ability so you will need to make sure that your enemy stays in the air and you hurt them in the air.

Attacks

We have detailed Jigglypuff’s moves below.

Grounded Attacks

We have detailed all of Jigglypuff’s attacks below which can be performed while she is on the ground.

Neutral Attacks

Jigglypuff’s neutral attack is a combo of two attacks. Both attacks deal 3 damage to enemies with the second one knocking back enemies slightly. Jigglypuff will hit or at least try to hit its enemies with its tiny arms in a two punch combo. You will need to get it close with the enemies to hit them but it is a decent attack to set them up for some quick attacks. The attacks is also safe when it is shielded so you can get in close and personal with your enemies easily.

Dash Attack

Jigglypuff’s Dash attack deals 12 damage to enemies. Enemies hit early in the attack get more damage than enemies who are hit by the dash late in the attack. Enemies hit by the dash are launched in the air setting them up for more attacks. The attacks deal decent damage when Jigglypuff bashes its head in to enemies at a decent pace.

Heavier enemies are knocked back slightly or enemies hit by this attack at a later time of the attack are not damaged much. The highest damage output and most knockback power is early in the attack. However, Jigglypuff’s Dash attack is a little slower when compared to most fighters in the game.

Defensive Attacks

Jigglypuff’s ledge attack deals 8 damage to enemies while the wake up attack will deal 7 damage to them.

Tilts

Jigglypuff has three Tilt attacks. We have detailed them below.

Side Tilt

It deals 10 damage while knocking back enemies. For this attack, Jigglypuff will perform a powerful kick which will knock them back after dealing a decent enough damage. You can also set the angle of the kick to up or down using the control stick. The attack takes a decent amount to start so you will need to time it right.

Up Tilt

It deals 9 damage to enemies while setting them up nicely for more follow up attacks. Jigglypuff will swing its leg up in a powerful move from its back. It can hit enemies behind and above Jigglypuff. Enemies hit by the attack are launched up in the air allowing Jigglypuff to follow up with an attack. The attack damage is good and launch power is also decent for this attack.

Down Tilt

It deals 10 damage to enemies and knocks them away as well. Jigglypuff will press itself to the ground and then unleash a powerful kick which will launch enemies to the sky. This attack has low range so you will need to be close to enemies to actually damage them. You must time the attack right because the attack takes time to initialize.

Smash Attacks

Jigglypuff comes with three Smash Attacks which are detailed below.

Side Smash

It deals a solid 16 damage to enemies while knocking them away when hit. This attack has a small starting time which means that you will need to time it right. Jigglypuff will land a powerful kick attack on the enemies at the front which will send them flying. Watch out for enemy shields because you will be left vulnerable if someone shields this attack.

Up Smash

It deals 15 damage to enemies and will send enemies flying above Jigglypuff. This allows Jigglypuff to follow up with an attack. Jigglypuff will land a powerful head smash above itself in the form of an arc.

Enemies hit by this attack are sent flying above Jigglypuff setting them up ready for a follow up attack. You will need to time the attack right because it has a slow start and even more slower if shielded so you will be left in a very vulnerable situation.

Down Smash

It deals 11 damage to enemies and it is excellent for clearing out the area around Jigglypuff because it hits on both sides. For this attack, Jigglypuff will squish down to the ground in an attack similar to that of the Down Tilt but release a kick aiming in both directions which can cover both sides easily.

This attack is great if you want to clear some area around Jigglypuff and make some personal space. Jigglypuff will need some time to recover from this attack so you will need to make sure that both attacks connect.

Grabs

Grabbing with Jigglypuff deals 1.3 damage to enemies. Throwing them either at front or back will deal 10 damage to both of them. Throwing them Up deals 8 damage while throwing them down will deal 12 damage to them. Just like most fighters, Jigglypuff’s back throw is the most powerful throw and also sets enemies up for a follow up attack.

The grab range is very low but it does the job. If you do manage to grab an enemy, the throws deal decent damage and also sets enemies up for follow up attacks if you throw them up and down. You will need to get up very close to grab with Jigglypuff.

Aerial Attacks

This section of the guide details all Jigglypuff’s aerial attacks.

Neutral Air Attack

It deals 11 damage. Hitting enemies earlier with this attack will deal more damage to them. Jigglypuff lands a powerful forward leg attack which has the highest damage while the leg is being extended. At this time, knockback is also the highest. Once extended, Jigglypuff can glide some time during which damage and knockback will keep diminishing as the glide continues.

Forward Air Attack

It deals 9 damage. Same deal as Neutral Air Attack, get up close and hit enemies earlier with the attack to deal the most damage to them. Jigglypuff will extend both her legs in front of her and land a powerful attack on enemies in front of her. This is a good attack even when shielded because the recovery time is much lower.

Back Air Attack

It deals 13 damage. If you hit the enemies with this attack, they will be knocked back in the air. Jigglypuff will deal a solid kick attack by turning around. The attack deals solid damage and knockback on enemies. Enemies will get maximum damage and knockback if they are closer to Jigglypuff. The high damage output makes this attack a solid KO attack.

Up Air Attack

It deals 9 damage. Once hit, enemies will fly away from Jigglypuff and will be set up nicely for a follow up combo. Jigglypuff will wave her hand in a powerful move above its head for this attack. The arc will start from its back and go all the way to the front.

This attack has low recovery time and enemies will fly above Jigglypuff giving her time to follow up with a juggle combo. Keep jumping higher in the air to reach enemies that fly above after each air combo. With Jigglypuff, you can jump five times in the air without the need to land back on the stage.

Down Air Attack

It deals 1.5×8 and 2 damage. This attack has initial eight attacks and then the final attack launches the enemy away from Jigglypuff for a powerful finisher. Jigglypuff will transform herself into a drill by stretching out its legs and arms and come down spinning. As you continue to spin, you will hit enemies and drag them around the stage.

After eight hits, Jigglypuff will land the final hit which will knock the enemies away from Jigglypuff. For following up with more attacks after the first hit, you will be required to cancel before the final move otherwise enemies will be too far away to get to them for any sort of follow up attack.

Special Attacks

Jigglypuff has four special attacks and we have detailed them below.

Neutral Special – Rollout

It deals 12 to 20 damage depending on how much the attack is charged. Jigglypuff will roll up like a ball and spin towards enemies hitting them. You can also charge the attack by holding the button before releasing the button and making Jigglypuff charge at the enemies.

Once hit, Jigglypuff will bound back from enemies and if someone uses a shield, Jigglypuff will pass right through them. You can also change Jigglypuff’s roll direction by using the control stick. Charging the attack is important if you want to deal some real damage to enemies.

Side Special – Pound

It deals 11 damage to enemies. Jigglypuff will launch a powerful punch attack on enemies in its front which will launch the enemies in the air. This attack has low recovery time so you can use it again and again in the air as a movement tactic as well.

Up Special – Sing

This attack does not deals any sort of damage directly but it puts everyone around Jigglypuff to sleep which can open up a wide variety of options. During this attack, Jigglypuff will sing a song in the mic and all enemies around it will go to sleep. The time for their sleep depends on how close they are to Jigglypuff.

Enemies who are already low on health will also slow more time rather enemies with plenty of juice left in them. You can use this useful attack in various ways such as setting them up for the next Special Attack detailed below, Rest.

Down Special – Rest

It deals 20 damage and extra 38 overtime as it causes bleeding on enemies hit by the attack. This is a very deadly attack if you manage to hit the enemies with this attack. The main trick here is to hit the enemies with this super powerful attack. After the input, Jigglypuff will take a nap and unleash a very powerful attack.

This attack will launch enemies up in the air with a very powerful hit and then cause bleeding to them which will cause even more damage to them. The main reason why it is so hard to hit with this attack is the small hitbox. Only Jigglypuff’s body is the attack box which means that you will need to hit enemies with the body otherwise you will miss.

The penalty for missing this powerful attack is also very large. Jigglypuff will nap for complete three seconds during which it will not move at all and you will be a sitting duck in the game. If hit, very few attacks are more powerful than Jigglypuff’s Rest in the entire game.

Final Smash – Puff Up

For its Final Smash, Jigglypuff will keep puffing itself up until it covers nearly all the stage. Once done, it will deflate itself and launch all enemies in the air.

  1. Sorry to say but Donkey Kong Country is NOT better than its sequel, Diddy’s Kong Quest. Everything that was done well in the first game was done EVEN BETTER in the sequel. Also, Super Metroid is leagues ahead of some of the choices above it, such as DKC, Mario World, and ALTTP (my opinion on those last 2, it is definitely better than DKC). However I think DKC 2 is better than Super Metroid, but they are my favorite and second favorite games respectively.
