Borderlands 3 Next-Gen

With the cancellation of the traditional PAX events, it has also taken a brand new approach with digital conventions happening all around the world. PAX Online is currently in full swing and Gearbox recently shared tons of new Borderlands 3 information during its PAX Online presentation. Despite now being a year old, Gearbox still has plenty of plans for Borderlands 3 as we can see from their latest presentation including next-gen upgrades, splitscreen and new DLC.

According to the new livestream, Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 3 will be fully playable on next-gen consoles including Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. The next-gen version of the game will make full use of the enhanced power of the consoles and deliver an experience worthy of next-generation. On next-gen consoles, Borderlands 3 will support 4K resolution at 60FPS in a singleplayer.

Since the consoles will pack more power, players will also be able to play three and four-player splitscreen on the same system on next-gen consoles. In addition, the current-gen version of Borderlands 3 will receive a two-player vertical splitscreen option with a free update. Along with this, all current-gen owners of Borderlands 3 will be able to switch easily to the next-gen easily as their game copies will automatically update to the next-gen console on their console family.

All add-ons and save files will also carry from the current-gen to the next-gen which will allow players to literally continue playing the game on their brand new consoles right where they left them on the current-gen systems. Additional details about Borderlands 3 cross-play will be shared next year so this means that cross-play might be coming to the game in 2021 as well allowing you to play with your friends regardless of their platform of choice.

Gearbox also revealed that a new paid DLC will release for Borderlands 3 later this year which will bring an additional Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter and more. At this point, the developer showcased FL4K the Beastmaster’s new Trapper Skill Tree that showed the powerful Gravity Snare Action Skill and a new pet type Hyperion Loaderbot. The new Trapper Skill tree will allow players to increase shields and survivability along with crowd control with the new Gravity Snare skill.
