Destiny 2 Crown of Sorrow Raid is available now and if you are stuck at the first ritual phase then here are the basic mechanics that should help you get through. From what we have seen so far, you need to kill the enemies until the ritual is complete. This appears to be some sort of test.
Contest Disables Power Advantage Over 720
During the first 24 hours of the Destiny 2 Crown of Sorrow Raid a special contest is active in which you get no power level advantage over a specific level. According to Bungie:
While Contest is active, players will face an enforced challenge throughout the Raid. This means, Power beyond certain levels will provide no advantage for a given fight (e.g., for the first fight all Power above 700 won’t provide an advantage, and for the final fight Power above 720 will not provide an advantage).
The Contest functionality will be disabled after the first 24 hours. So you will be able to take advantage of higher power levels after this initial period.
The Crystals Will Kill You
There are crystals in the first encounter and if you do not shoot them the whole team will die. You need to take the crystals out as soon as they spawn. Two people need to work together to do this. One person needs to have the buff while the other does not need to have it.
The Witches Buff
The Witches buff allows the players to do damage to knights and ogres. The buff lasts for one minute. Two knights will spawn in the left, in the middle and the right. Whoever is buffed will need to take out the knights.
Once the knights are dead two ogres will spawn as well. One will be blessed while the other one is not. If you have the buff then you need to kill the blessed one. If you do not then go for the regular one.
Refreshing The Witches Buff
In order to refresh the buff, you need to get to the sphere that is in the middle of the room. All teammates need to be in the sphere and need to shoot it in order to reset the buff. One that is destroyed, the buff will switch to other players that did not have it before.
Keep killing enemies, destroying crystals and switching the buff until the ritual is completed. You will need to repeat this process four times in order to complete the encounter and progress to the next one.
