How to Obtain Dark Zone Keys
There are two main ways to obtain Dark Zone keys. The most straight-forward way of getting the Dark Zone Keys is by finding and killing high-level enemies. These are enemies marked with yellow and they are mostly leading other smaller level enemies in groups. Only these enemies are named. Kill them and they will drop Dark Zone keys for you.
Another way to obtain Dark Zone keys is by killing other players who are holding Dark Zone Keys. There will be many other players in Dark Zones who would be looking for keys other than you. If you manage to kill someone holding the keys, they will drop the keys for you. They will also drop any contaminated loot they are holding.
How to Open Dark Zone Chests without Keys
If you manage to stumble upon a Dark Zone chest but you do not have a key with you, you can still open the chest but it will increase your Rogue status in the Dark Zone. You can use a lockpick to open the chest but it will make you visible to other players in the Dark Zone and also increase your Rogue status.
Useful Perk
You have a very useful perk which can help you find more Dark Zone Keys easily. Head over to the base of operations and speak with the Dark Zone Officer there. Unlock the Dark Zone Perk from him and then reach Level 25.
Once you are level 25, head back to the Dark Zone Officer and select the ‘Keymaster’ perk. This perk will increase your chance of finding a Dark Zone key from loot crates by 25%. With this perk equipped, you will find more Dark Zone keys much easily.
